宝钢集团新疆八一钢铁有限公司（以下简称:八钢）的前身为新疆八一钢铁集团有限责任公司。始建于1951年9月，原是自治区的国有骨干企业和利税大户，2007年4月28日正式加入宝钢集团。
2010年八钢已具备年产钢700万吨的能力，产品覆盖长材、板材及管材等品种，近1610个品种规格，产品主要在新疆及其西部省区销售，部分出口中亚地区。目前，企业资产总额达320亿元，年销售收入200亿元，年上缴税金20亿元，现有职工25352人。企业具有矿山、选矿、烧结、焦化、炼铁、炼钢到轧钢完整的生产工艺流程。近年来，八钢高度重视资源开发，除在哈密地区和阿勒泰地区有雅满苏、蒙库两座铁矿外，在南北疆还有储量可观的自有铁矿，在乌鲁木齐艾维尔沟还有一座以生产焦煤为主的煤矿。同时，八钢还有金属制品等钢铁延伸产品。
主要工艺生产装备：2座265m2烧结机、4座6米55孔大型焦炉、2座2500 m3高炉、3座120吨转炉，以及小型材、中型材、高速线材、冷轧薄板和镀锌彩涂薄板机组、1750mm热轧带钢机组、4200/3500mm中厚板轧机生产线，工艺装备水平大幅提升，已进入设备大型化行列，产品结构和企业实力达到一个新水平。
