西南铝荟萃了中国现代铝加工技术设备的精华。建厂初期，便装备了被誉为“四大国宝”的2800毫米热轧机、2800毫米冷轧机、12500吨卧式挤压机、30000吨模锻水压机；上世纪80年代中期至90年代中期，从国外引进技术装备，相继成功改造“1 1”2800毫米热轧生产线，新建成35吨扁锭熔铸生产线、1850毫米冷轧生产线、1700毫米铝箔生产线和1600毫米涂层生产线，具备高精铝材的生产能力，在众多的国内铝加工企业中抢得了发展的先机；进入新世纪，先后建成了“1 4”2100毫米热连轧生产线、“1 2”2000毫米冷连轧生产线、4300毫米厚板生产线和22万吨新熔铸生产线。到2014年底，西南铝累计形成铝加工材产能80余万吨。

西南铝主要产品有铝及铝合金板、带、箔、管、棒、型材、模锻件、自由锻件、压铸件、铝焊管、铝锂合金、高温合金、彩色涂层铝板等产品。
